Thanks for all who came out to the Paleo Halfway Potluck Friday night. There was a great offering of Paleolithic food and the libations came just in the nick of time. The "NorCal" Margaritas were a hit...not too sweet but with plenty of lime and tequilia. And remember, the lime blunts the insulin response to the tequila, so drink away! But I gotta say, I didn't feel great when I went to bed last night. I'm not sure if it was having wine after not having alcohol for over 3 weeks or if it was the dark chocolate binge I apparently went on when Elizabeth brought in the dark chocolate coated nuts and orange peel. Heck, there could have been a dark chocolate covered shoe and I'd have eaten it. But it was fun seeing folks out of the gym setting, enjoying the side dishes that everyone so generously brought, and just sharing thoughts about our last "month" of Paleo eating.
I hope you found the question and answer
part of the evening helpful and should you have any questions and
concerns arise, please post your comment or catch one of us in the
gym.
I was surfing the web for some provocative reading material and came across this site http://zenhabits.net/2010/01/fitness-blogs/
They have asked some of the top fitness bloggers to
list their favorite sites. I thought this was a cool resource for
finding more interesting nutrition/fitness information. I find that
reading these blogs helps keep me focused. Knowledge is power!
If you are considering adding anything back into your diet, please do
so carefully and one food at a time. If it's the greek yogurt you've
missed, then add just that for a few days and see how you feel. If you
get carried away and start adding different kinds of foods (legumes,
dairy, etc), you'll never know which food you may be sensitive to if
for any reason you start to feel bad afterward. My goal is to continue
to stick with the paleo foods but I plan to add just a small amount of
pastured Kerrygold butter and a little cream back in my diet. I drank
black coffee for 3 1/2 weeks and I'd love to have a touch of cream with
my cup of joe. You all have worked so hard in regaining insulin
sensitivity by cutting out the grains and dairy. Keep up the good
work!
(A photo album from the party and updates to the main page will be posted soon.)
My weight loss has slowed down, but I am feeling more energized throughout my day. I have cheated a little to much with the Fanie May mint meltaways, but I will finish them up and then that will be the last of them. It's my favorite candy in the entire world and I can resist them. Hopefully everybody has been doing well!!!!

Mac Attack, you cracked me up with your story about the Fannie May mint meltaways! They sound yummmy!!! I have been resisting a lot of crap I used to just eat without even thinking about it...I started roasting veggies the night before and put them in baggies for the next day so I have them to snack on...this has really helped!!

One more thing to mention...I've been watching some U-tube videos on CF workouts and find myself learning about some techniques that way. It's a bit addictive, but fun to watch occasionally.
